As well as improving our well-being, trees play an important role in dispersing and removing pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) and particulate matter (PM) from the atmosphere. This has benefits both locally and globally.
From the Amazon rainforests to Europe’s ancient woodlands, trees help slow the march of climate change by absorbing CO₂ through photosynthesis. Globally, forests may absorb and store as much as 30% of the carbon emissions generated by human activities. However, when forests are burned or cleared, the carbon they store is released back into the atmosphere.
At AIR Seating, we are on a journey to be the best we can be for the world around us. Our commitment to reducing environmental impact began from day one, with our first objective being to source materials and componentry from UK suppliers wherever possible. By keeping our supply chain closer to home, we are able to maintain a lower carbon footprint from the outset.
As we have continued to grow, so has our commitment to environmental responsibility. In 2010 we achieved BS EN ISO 14001, a milestone that recognised our structured approach to managing and reducing our environmental impact both locally and globally.
More recently, 2023 marked another important step forward with the achievement of our FSC® certification. The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the responsible management of the world’s forests. Since its foundation in 1994, FSC has grown to become the world’s most respected and widespread forest certification system.
We are dedicated to exploring environmentally responsible materials and manufacturing processes as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. By working with trusted suppliers and responsibly sourced timber, we aim to ensure the materials used in our products support the long-term health of the world’s forests.
Sustainability is not a single milestone but an ongoing journey. As AIR Seating continues to grow, we remain committed to improving our processes, reducing our environmental footprint and making responsible choices that benefit both our customers and the environment.
